Turn any photo into a coloring page or traceable outline

iPhone, iPad and Android

The bundled packs are only the start. With Draw your photo, any picture on your camera roll — the family dog, a favorite toy, grandma's house — becomes a clean black-and-white outline that works like a built-in picture: trace it onto paper, color it in, puzzle it, or print it.

This is one of the few DoodlePlot features that uses the internet. The photo is sent once to create the outline and is not stored by us afterward. AI features are off by default, and a grown-up turns them on.

You'll need

  • DoodlePlot on a phone or tablet
  • A photo on the device
  • An internet connection
  1. Turn on AI features (grown-ups)

In Settings, switch on AI features. The first time you use one, DoodlePlot shows a short disclosure explaining that the photo or your words are sent for one-time processing and not saved by us. You only see this once, and you can switch AI off again at any time.

  2. Tap Draw your photo and choose a picture

From the home screen tap Draw your photo, then pick a picture from your camera roll. Simple subjects with a clear background work best — one toy on a table beats a busy room.

    • Good light and a plain background give the cleanest lines.
  3. Tap Outline

The photo appears over the camera view. Tap Outline in the controls and, a few seconds later, it's redrawn as clean line art. The outline is saved automatically, so you'll find it later under My outlines on the home screen.

    • On the free plan you'll see how many free drawings you have left today; the allowance resets daily and is larger with Pro.
  4. Trace, color, puzzle or print it

You're already in Trace — prop the phone over paper and draw it. Or open it from My outlines to color it on screen, turn it into a jigsaw, or print it as a coloring page.

Ideas for photos to outline

  • The family pet — the all-time favorite.
  • A child's own toy, so they can "draw their own" stuffed animal.
  • Your house, car or bike.
  • A holiday photo of a landmark.
  • A drawing they made earlier, to trace a cleaner version of it.

Limits and Pro

Photo outlines have a small daily allowance on the free plan and a larger one with DoodlePlot Pro. The limit resets every day. Outlines you've already made stay in My outlines — the limit is only on creating new ones.

Privacy, plainly

Your photo leaves the device only to create the outline, is processed once, and is not stored by us. The live camera used for tracing is separate and never records anything. Details are in our Privacy Policy.
