Mandala maker: draw one line, get a kaleidoscope
The Mandala maker is DoodlePlot's most hypnotic screen. Draw one curve and it's repeated around the center at the same moment — 4, 6, 8 or 12 times, plus a mirror — so a single squiggle blooms into a flower, a snowflake, a starburst. There's no way to do it badly.
It's a favorite wind-down activity before bed, and it's fully usable with VoiceOver.
You'll need
- DoodlePlot on a phone or tablet
- A finger, stylus or Apple Pencil
Open the Mandala maker
From the home screen tap Mandala. You'll see a blank canvas with faint symmetry guide lines through the center.
Draw one slow stroke
Drag a finger from near the center outward. The same stroke appears in every direction at once. Slow, curvy strokes make the prettiest shapes.
Change the symmetry and colors
Pick 4, 6, 8 or 12 with the symmetry control — each choice plays its own little note — and choose new crayons as you go. Layering thin light strokes over thick dark ones gives a stained-glass look.
- Try tiny circles near the center and long sweeps near the edge.
- With an Apple Pencil, pressing harder makes thicker lines.
Undo, start over, done
Undo removes the last stroke everywhere. Start over wipes the canvas (it asks first). When you like what you see, tap Done — it's saved to the gallery, where you can share or print it.
Ideas
- Snowflake challenge: white and blue only, 6-way symmetry.
- Draw your name — it comes out as an abstract pattern no one can read.
- Print a finished mandala and color it with real pencils.
